The Pacific Rim Yacht Club (PRYC) welcomes Gays, Lesbians and their
friends to join us on the water. It is not a requirement to own a boat, but at
present there are few crewing opportunities. However, do not be deterred,
contact the Club and all possible courses will be explored for the non-boat
owner. The range of the boating abilities of our members are from the venerable
'old salt' to the complete novice. Our goal is to have fun while promoting safe
boating practices with an awareness of the environment.
PRYC has its origins in the late 70's
when a group of gay boat owners in Vancouver, British
Columbia, decided to form a small yacht club. In 1984,
the Pacific Rim Yacht Club was registered under the
Societies Act of British Columbia. The original objective
was to create a group of boat owners and to assemble a crew
list. Over the years the Club has grown to include
boats from Vancouver Island and the lower mainland.
